Short Sunderland GR.III EK591 "2U" was a Coastal Command aircraft of No. 422 Squadron RCAF based at RAF Castle Archdale, Northern Ireland in 1944.

My father, Frank Cauley, was navigator aboard that aircraft when it sunk German U-boat U-625 on March 10, 1944.
It was that model of U-625 that brought me back to modelling after a long hiatus.

Italeri's new 1/72 kit of the Sunderland Mk.III (kit #1352) came along in 2014, finally giving modellers an alternative to Airfix's aging kit that was originally released in 1959.
Aviaeology released a decal sheet (#AOD72004m) with my father's plane's markings, and Eduard released several new PE detail sets in August 2014.
